Elope somewhere that takes your breath away

An elopement isn't a smaller wedding. It's a different kind of day — built entirely around the two of you.

Vancouver Island is made for eloping. Within an hour of Victoria you can say your vows in a meadow above the ocean at Aylard Farm, under old-growth cedars at Goldstream, or on a pebble beach along the Juan de Fuca coast. Head up-island and there's Cathedral Grove, the Cowichan vineyards and the wide surf beaches of Tofino.

We help plan the whole thing: shortlisting locations with our elopement location finder, timing your ceremony to the tide and the light with the golden hour calculator, checking park permit requirements, and walking you through the BC marriage licence. Our Vancouver Island elopement guide covers it step by step.

Rain isn't a deal-breaker — just ask Kasha and Justin, whose clouds parted the moment their ceremony began.

Questions couples ask

Is eloping legal anywhere in BC?

You need a valid BC marriage licence, a licensed marriage commissioner or religious representative, and two witnesses. The ceremony can happen almost anywhere you have permission to be — check park rules before you choose.

Do we need a permit to elope in a park?

It depends on the park and the size of your group. CRD Regional Parks, BC Parks and Parks Canada each have their own rules for ceremonies and commercial photography, so we confirm requirements for your spot as part of planning.

What's the best time of year to elope on Vancouver Island?

Late spring through early autumn has the most reliable weather, but October and winter storm-watching season bring incredible moody light and far fewer people.

Can we bring guests?

Of course. Our micro-wedding option covers up to 30 guests; many couples invite just immediate family or a couple of close friends.
